Animal Control
The Village of Hobart contracts with the Village of Howard Citizen Animal Response Team (CART). The CART Team handles stray (found) pets, works to reunite lost pets, handles complaints, assists with injured and nuisance wildlife, and advocates for the humane treatment of all animals in our community. The CART Team is staffed by a group of paid on-call citizen volunteers who respond to calls after hours and on weekends.
DOG LICENSES
Is your dog registered? Per state statute, all dogs must be licensed annually. The licenses must be purchased or renewed between December 1st and March 31st of each year. If renewed after March 31st, there is an additional late fee of $10.00 per dog. This does not apply if you are either new to the Village or if this is a new dog for you. Send the dog license application with your dog's rabies certificate, and payment to the village office at 2990 S. Pine Tree Road, Hobart, WI 54155.
STRAY ANIMALS
Stray animals in the Village of Hobart are reported to the Hobart/Lawrence Police Department. If you have found a stray, please call Brown County Dispatch at (920) 391-7450 (hit 8). The animal may be taken to the Wisconsin Humane Society - Green Bay if needed . All animals are treated with compassion and respect as a decision is made on action needed.
FERAL CAT TRAP, NEUTER AND RETURN (TNR) PROGRAM
The Village of Hobart practices Trap, Neuter, and Return (TNR). The TNR program is a humane way to control the feral cat population. Feral cats are trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and have their left ear tipped.
If you are caring for a feral cat and would like to participate in the TNR Program, please contact Animal Control Officer Matt Atkinson at (920) 530-1044.There is no charge for this program.
IF YOU LOSE A PET
If your pet was lost in the Village of Hobart, please contact the Wisconsin Humane Society - Green Bay at (920) 469-3110 as pets found in these areas will go there. You may also contact the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department by calling the Brown County Dispatch at (920) 391-7450 (hit 8). We hold stray pets for 7 days (even though the state mandate is only 4 days). If no owner comes forward after the stray hold is complete, the pet is evaluated for health and behavior prior to being placed up for adoption.
NUISANCE WILDLIFE
Trapping and moving animals may seem like a good idea, however that might not be the best way to evict animals. Call Animal Control Officer Matt Atkinson at (920) 530-1044 for the most humane and effective tips to handle wildlife.
